Henderson-Chu Model Development
Mun (1999) Analysis
To begin my research, I read the Mun (1999) research paper on the framework of the bottleneck-congestion model to better understand the topic. Basically, I checked over all of Mun’s mathematical equations and presented it to Prof. Hall as a way to learn about a model I was going to improve upon later in the year.
This is some of my scratch work in trying to combine two models of peak-load bottleneck congestion with multiple heterogeneous groups of commuters. It might be math-heavy, but the main goal was to derive a solution to generate a Pareto improvement in Lexus lanes. We ended up having to numerically simulate our results because of an unsolvable complex nonlinear system.
