Skateboarding

One day, three of my friends and I decided to buy 4 skateboards from a doctor off Kijiji. I’d never skateboarded before, so when we all boarded 2 miles back to our residence, I was struggling to weave in and out of heavy oncoming traffic. But, soon enough, the rest of the guys on our floor bought skateboards and we were hitting the streets every day. It became a culture, a passion, and a getaway from normal life. The 15 minute walk to class became a 3 minute skateboard trip, and I would often cross paths with one of the guys on the way. For Christmas, I was gifted an expensive “Campus Cruiser” from a local longboard shop in Kensington. It was a much needed upgrade from the penny board I was using to get around the city. Eventually, we got to the point where we would link up and skate all the way down 5 floors of parking garages, then take elevators back up. It’s almost like skiing — except no cold!
